Saido Berahino has returned early to his parent club West Bromwich Albion from his loan spell with Peterborough United after a scan revealed a chipped bone on his knee!

The teenager had enjoyed a good spell whilst on loan at Posh making 6 appearances for the Championship club with 3 appearances on the substitutes bench. He scored two goals in his time at the club, both of which came in the 3-0 win over Derby County.

He sustained an injury during the recent 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town. It has since been revealed he has chipped a bone on his knee and will be out of action for eight weeks.

It will be a massive blow for Posh as they are now down to just one senior forward in their squad!

Unless boss Darren Ferguson decides to give a chance to one of the teenage strikers he has in his squad, it looks like loanee striker Dwight Gayle will have to continue a lonely battle up front on his own!

Strikers Emile Sinclair and Tyrone Barnett have both left the club on loans recently but Fergie confirmed Posh are not allowed to recall either player.

Once again it looks like very bad management by Fergie who chose to bring a midfielder (albeit a good one) in on loan instead of strengthening an area we are desperately short of in numbers!

Commenting on the loss of the 19 year-old, Fergie said: “It is a massive blow because Saido has made a real impact at the club, but he is going to be out for at least eight weeks so has returned to West Bromwich Albion.

“We will look at maybe bringing him back again when he is fit, but will have to remain patient on that one. We will be looking to strengthen in that particular area of the field in the New Year,”.

Vital Posh wishes Saido a speedy recovery and good luck with the rest of his career which looks a very promising one.
