Peterborough United`s Michael Bostwick is looking forward to the challenge of the new season.

Bostwick, who signed for Posh last summer from Stevenage, started the season in central midfield but soon found himself being a star performer as a centre back; not that he minds playing in different positions!

“I enjoyed playing centre back; it is a lot different to central midfield in so many ways, but I don`t really mind where I play. If the manager wants me to play in defence I will play there and if he wants me back in the middle of the park then I will play there too. As long as I am playing I am happy.” said Bostwick to the official Posh website.

Speaking about that fateful final day of last season, Bostwick says it took him some time to get over the heartbreak but is now only looking forward: “It took quite a while to get over the last day at Crystal Palace, but we can`t look back any more, we need to move on and look to the future and what we can achieve this season.

“We have a fresh challenge ahead of us. It is an exciting challenge because we know what we need to do and that is try and get back to the Championship at the first time of asking, but that won`t be easy.

“We have got to come back and carry on from where we left off at the end of the season because we were playing some really good football,’ Bostwick said.

The focus is now definitely on next season and getting back to the Championship as quickly as possible.

Every player was given a programme to stick to while they were away from the club so they come back to pre-season training fit and ready.

“We had a programme to stick to during the summer, but I also think it is important to have a break for mental reasons as well as physical ones,’ Bostwick said.

“I`ve been doing a bit of fitness work during the summer.

“It`s always important to keep yourself in decent shape during the close-season, especially as I ended the season with an injury. I need to keep on top of things to make sure when the training starts I am raring to go.” continued Bostwick.

Looking ahead to the new season, Bostwick believes Posh can have a real go at getting back to the Championship: “I have played in League One and it is a lot more physical than the Championship in my opinion, but I am pretty sure that teams will find it hard to cope with us if we continue to play the football we did last year.

“If we keep the majority of the squad together then we can give it a real good go,’ Bostwick said.
