Boyd to fill Snodgrass gap?

With Leeds United on the verge of selling winger Robert Snodgrass, could they now look at George Boyd to fill the gap?

Boyd is about to enter the last year of his contract at Peterborough United having been at the club since the 2006-2007 season. His agent confirmed to the club at the end of last season that Boyd wouldn`t be signing another contract at Posh! As per club policies, he was then placed on the transfer list as Posh look to cash in on one of their prize assets rather than seeing him leave for nothing at the end of this coming season.

Since joining Posh from non-league Stevenage Borough, he has racked up 248 appearances scoring 70 goals for Posh. He did have a brief loan spell with Nottingham Forest during the back-end of the 2009-2010 season where he played 6 matches scoring one goal.

Boyd is most effective playing on the left side of midfield but he can play all along the midfield. Last season he played the majority of games at the top of the midfield diamond formation.

International honours have also come in Boyds direction as he has represented both England “C” in 2005 while playing for Stevenage and Scotland “B” in April 2009. Boyd was influential in that Scotland game as they beat Northern Ireland “B” 3-0 with Boyd scoring one goal and setting another goal up.

Having enjoyed three promotions during his time at Posh, it looks as though his time at London Road is coming to an end.

With Snodgrass currently discussing terms with Norwich City, Neil Warnock will be keen to bring in a quality replacement?and Boyd could easily fill that spot.

The Snodgrass transfer will obviously bring some money into Leeds United, but how much money will be available for Warnock? If Boyd does link up with Leeds, he’ll join his new teammates on their return from their pre-season camp in Cornwall.

The one problem that could stop any deal being done is the valuation of Boyd by Posh. Posh are quite prepared to stick to their guns over the valuations of their players and it`s believed they are prepared to let Boyd (and any other players on the transfer list) head out of the London Road door for nothing at the end of this forthcoming season rather than let him go on the cheap this summer!

Do you think Boyd will leave before the transfer window shuts? Will Boyd leave for Leeds?
