Bristol Rovers v Posh (Preview)!

This season has been a monumental one, already!

Back in August only the eternal optimists amongst us would have even dreamed of being so close to back-to-back promotions.

But, we`re now at the stage whereby our dreams, our hopes and our expectation levels demand that we go on and don`t waste this golden opportunity to create our own little piece of history.

We currently sit five points ahead of our nearest rivals for the second automatic promotion place, MK Dons. Unfortunately, their goal difference is slightly better than ours, something we could do with rectifying in the next few weeks.

This Saturday could be a seminal moment as far as deciding who makes that gigantic step up into the Championship!

Posh face a difficult trip to Bristol to take on a Rovers side that are still in with an outside chance of gate-crashing the play-off places, whilst the MK Dons travel to Yeovil.

Out of the two fixtures you`d perhaps say that ours is the hardest as Yeovil, since sacking Russell Slade, have failed to register a win, but we can but hope.

So what about our starting line up?

Craig Morgan remains a doubt after coming off in his comeback game, a reserve match against Colchester, although the club are indicating it was just a precaution.

Also, at centre back, Gabriel Zakuani, serves his one match ban so Darren Ferguson will have some decisions to make about his defence. Here at Vital Posh we expect the ever-dependable Charlie Lee to form part of the answer with, if Morgan fails a fitness test, Chris Westwood stepping in.

Elsewhere, after the battling win against Northampton, we don`t see many changes that Darren is likely to make. After his brief rest, Craig Mackail-Smith looked as eager as ever and George Boyd and Aaron McLean will provide the attacking support.

As for the opposition, the general consensus of opinion is that if we can keep their top scorer Lambert quiet half the battle will be won.

Darren Ferguson, talking about the opposition this weekend to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire recalled the reciprocating game at London Road which finished 5-4, commenting,

“I`d probably have a heart attack if there was another 5-4, but we`d take any win at the moment.”

“We want to play nice football but all you need is wins, it doesn`t matter how you do it.”

There`s no doubting we`re at the crunch end of the season and it`s not the time for those of a nervous disposition, so, as far as the result goes, we`re going for a Posh victory and just a little further west, we`re taking Yeovil to snatch a draw against the MK Dons.

If we`re right, it promises to be a great weekend!
