Former Port Vale midfielder Ryan Burge is keen for Peterborough United to resurrect their interest in him.

Ryan Burge - Port Vale

Burge was the subject of a six-figure bid during the January transfer window and it is believed Posh were the team to miss out on the player at that time.

However, Burge has fallen out with Port Vale and has been released and is now available on a free transfer.

‘I have had a lot of interest,’ Burge said. ‘In January time there was Peterborough that were pretty keen on taking me, so now I am out of contract there is no fee it makes it a lot more appealing to a club.

‘That was in January, but Peterborough are obviously a massive club. It’s disappointing that they have come down but I am sure they will bounce back up.’

Burge best suits the top of a midfield diamond and could fit in well to the formation Posh boss Darren Ferguson likes to play.

The 24-year-old believes he could also play in the Championship as he added: ‘I am confident I could do a job at Championship level. It’s a lot easier to go into the Championship level when you have had more experience.

‘I have obviously had games and won a promotion so now I am in a better position to make that step up.’

Would he make a good addition to the Posh squad?
