After dropping their first points of the League campaign last weekend, can Posh get back to winning ways in their match at Southend United on Saturday?
Doncaster Rovers were the first team to take points off Posh last weekend when they went away from the ABAX Stadium with a one-all draw. In truth, they should’ve gone away with all three points such was there dominance.
Posh also had a midweek match in the Checkatrade Trophy at League Two side MK Dons. After a woeful first half which saw 10 changes to the starting line-up, Posh managed to claw back the three goals they conceded in that opening 45 minutes. Unfortunately, they went on to lose 6-5 on penalties but the second-half gave boss Steve Evans food for thought regarding his team selection.
Southend sit in 13th place with seven points having won just once at home from three matches. They lost their opening match 3-2 to Doncaster Rovers while losing their last home League match 2-1 to Charlton Athletic. Their only victory on home soil in the League came against Bradford City who this week sacked their manager! They did win in midweek in the Checkatrade Trophy but they didn’t have tough opposition as they hosted Cambridge United!
Could Posh inflict the Shrimpers third home League defeat of the season and get to winning ways or will the win over the U’s have boosted their confidence?
