Youngster Charlie Coulson has agreed a two and a half year contract with Peterborough United, with the option of an extra year. He will sign the contract on his 17th birthday.
16-year-old Coulson became the second youngest player ever to play for Posh when he made his debut in the last home game of the season in the 2-2 draw with Watford. The youngest player to have played for Posh was Matthew Etherington who now plays for Premiership side Stoke City.
A student at Nene Park Academy, Coulson has been with the Posh youth set-up since the age of 13.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson said to www.theposh.com: ‘I am really excited about him. He is a very good footballer.
‘Everyone will be aware just looking at him that he needs to bulk up physically, but he has all of the attributes I like in a footballer.
‘He has two good feet, he can get a goal and we have high hopes for him without getting too carried away.
‘It is up to us to improve areas of his game, but for me it is a no brainer, we had to get him tied down to a contract. He is a good example of bringing young players through the system.’ Ferguson said.
