Crewe v Posh Preview

After emphatically taking all three points off of Huddersfield Town with a 4-0 win, Posh travel to Gresty Road this Tuesday evening to face Crewe Alexandra.

It is an ideal opportunity to win a further three points to cement our play-off place claim. Crewe are not in the best of form, on Friday night they lost 2-0 at Tranmere, and are currently anchored to the bottom of the division.

If Posh are serious about back-to-back promotions, Crew is the sort of place we have to go to and take all three points. Indeed, our cause could be helped by the unrest at Gresty Road where our friends over at Vital Crewe are already reporting on a protest this Tuesday.

One advantage about being on an unbeaten run is that it makes the managers job just that little bit easier. After recalling Aaron McLean to the starting eleven, barring late injury, we see no reason why the same eleven shouldn`t start against Crewe.

However, Sergio Torres will be hoping that Darren Ferguson gives him a starting place after coming on and impressing on Saturday. Currently struggling to be in contention are Dean Keates (knee) and Chris Westwood (calf) whilst Shane Blackett remains a long term injury problem.

Looking at our squad, it seems the ideal sort of game for the likes of Aaron McLean, Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd to step up and produce the sort of performance that`ll stand us in good stead as we continue to emerge as genuine promotion contenders.

It`s expected that around three hundred and fifty Posh supporters will be making the trip and we expect them to make a right old racket as life on the road seems to be fruitful, when it comes to singing continuously, than life at London Road.

As for the home side, they hope to have Billy Jones available. The defender was given a red card on Friday night after colliding with Baz Savage. Crewe are hoping video evidence will show Jones did nothing sinisterly wrong.

Despite our good run, there are still plenty of tickets available for Crewe supporters and we`d urge them to buy as they`ll not get another chance this season to see our fluid style pick their defence apart.

Besides, if they really are serious about a protest against Steve Holland it might help if some of them are in attendance. Sticking our necks out we`ll go for a comfortable night for Posh with a 2-0 victory for the lads.
