Darragh MacAnthony this afternoon confirmed to Sky Sports News that Posh will sign 3 or 4 new players in the January transfer window.

The main name mentioned was Manchester United’s young midfielder, Nick Powell (pictured below) who has been heavily linked with a loan move to London Road in recent days. The midfielder joined the Red Devils from Crewe Alexandra in the summer, and is looking to leave the club on loan to gain a bit more experience.

Another name put to the Posh Chairman was that of Stevenage winger Luke Freeman (below), who joined the League 1 side from Premier League Arsenal, and has gone on to be one of the top prospects in the lower leagues.

Darragh said that Posh were interested in the summer, but interest has cooled since, but the club are still tracking him, so a move is not out of the question.

However, the Chairman also spoke about players leaving the club this month. Posh legend George Boyd was the main topic on that front.

MacAnthony told Sky Sports News that no fewer than 8 bids had been made for the winger in the past 48 hours. Two bids from the Premier League and Six from the Championship, but MacAnthony is unsure as to whether the midfielder will leave the club in this window or in the summer.

The Irishman also told the presenters that he’d been on the phone to Barry Fry, whilst on his way to the studios, finalizing a deal for a player to leave the club, but he didn’t elude as to who the player was, and who they’d be moving to.

So as it is, it’s one in and one out for Posh, with Dwight Gayle signing his permanent deal at the club, and Lee Frecklington leaving on a permanent basis, joining Steve Evans’ Rotherham United as they look to make a push for promotion to League One.

News on any other deals during the window will be found at Vital Posh.
