Doing it the Posh Way!

With rumours of five or six new signings this summer Posh fans have been speculating as to who might be arriving.

No doubt we all have our own thoughts but it appears that Posh are not going to deviate away from a tried and trusted path.

A path that has seen them nurture the likes of George Boyd, Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron McLean, exciting youngsters plucked from relative obscurity but safe in the knowledge that they have the ability to perform.

Speaking about the summer purchase plans, Barry Fry has commented to he local media,

‘The players we try to sign will not be huge household names, but that is not to say people won’t be impressed.”

‘We will continue the policy of signing young, hungry players which has already proved so successful. Why would we change something that has helped us win promotion two years running?”

However, whilst in the past the youngsters have been plucked form non-league, this time it looks like they`re coming from higher echelons with Fry continuing,

‘The players we are targeting this summer have already been identified and are all with either Premiership or Football League clubs. There is no-one from non-league on our wish list right now.”

Also, whilst many clubs prefer to go down the loan route, securing a player for a season and then repeating the process, Posh are looking for permanent buys with Fry continuing,

‘We would prefer to buy players as neither the chairman or the manager are big fans of taking people on loan. Sometimes that is the only option though and it can work in your favour as we found out with Gaby Zakuani.”

‘We want to get our business done as quickly as we can so that everyone can go away for a nice rest.’

Like we mentioned earlier this week, we get the impression the squad will be done and dusted long before pre-season training begins.
