There will be a Grass Roots FA Respect Parade during half-time at the Leicester v Posh match.
The Leicester City v Peterborough United fixture has been delegated as an FA Respect Campaign fixture which will see a parade at half-time.
The parade will include over 1,000 childrewn from junior and youth football clubs who are affiliated to the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire FA`s.
Some Peterborough based teams will be included in the parade as they are affiliated to the Northamptonshire FA. One such Peterborough club taking part in the parade is Gunthorpe Harriers.
Each club taking part in the parade will be welcomed to the Stadium over the PA system and Club names will also be listed on the giant video screen.
The Respect campaign looks to improve on-pitch discipline and create more positive encouragement-based atmospheres at junior football matches and to increase the recruitment and retention of match official at all levels of the game.
And thanks to Leicester City’s Grass Roots Ticket Scheme, which engages with junior and youth football teams throughout the Leicestershire, Rutland and now the Northamptonshire areas, the pre-match and half-time activities inside the stadium will be bigger and better than ever before.
Youngsters attending through the Grass Roots scheme will be involved in the pre-match build-up, with some escorting the players into the arena, others forming a guard of honour and others shaking the giant shirts in the centre of the King Power Stadium pitch.
They will also be involved in the half-time activity, with in excess of 1,000 youngsters joining the Grass Roots Parade in support of the FA’s Respect campaign.
Leicester City’s Chief Executive, Susan Whelan said: “Saturday’s game and the activities around it will be a huge family event for our supporters, which should be reflected in the number of young people we have involved on the day.
“Uptake on our Grass Roots campaign is as high as it has ever been, which shows the fixture has really caught the imagination of young people in Leicestershire and I’m sure we can expect a great atmosphere.”
Saturday’s game against Peterborough looks set to host the biggest crowd of the season so far at King Power Stadium, with supporters coming together to celebrate the festive season in style.
It is important that supporters of all ages respect both home and visiting supporters and that they refrain from making any verbal or physical gestures!
Please give an especially big cheer to the Peterborough teams.
