Peterborough United Manager Darren Ferguson has dismissed speculation linking him with the vacant Nottingham Forest job.

40-year-old Ferguson is hoping he has finally put to bed any rumours he could quit Posh as he said: ‘It’s something that’s part and parcel of the game, speculation.

‘I’ve said – and I’ll say it again – it’s not for me, I’m happy here and that’s the end of it really.

‘It’s not for me and that’s it. I don’t think anyone needs to know any more, do they? That sort of puts closure on it.’

Nottingham Forest have recently been taken over by the Al-Hasawi family and one of the first things they did was to sack manager Steve Cotterill. Even before they had taken over Forest, there was speculation that Gianni Paladini was acting on their behalf and had made an illegal approach for Ferguson.

With Fergie out of the frame, much to the relief of all Posh fans, former England coach Glenn Hoddle is now the odds-on favourite to take charge at Forest after ex-Wolves boss Mick McCarthy also ruled himself out of the running.

Paul Ince, Gordon Strachan and Roy Keane are all believed to be interested in the Forest job.
