No, not Sir Alex, but Darren as he rallies his troops after the disappointment of relegation for his Peterborough United side.

“We are shooting for the League One title and I believe we will take some stopping.”

Darren Ferguson has wiped the disappointment of relegation from his mind and is now fully focussed on getting Posh back to the Championship at the first attempt.

All the players were given time off after last weekend but met up at London Road on Friday [10th May, 2013] to find out what the future holds and it was during the get together that Fergie rallied his troops: “There`s no doubt the Big Man upstairs wasn`t looking down on us when we needed some luck last weekend, but we have already dusted ourselves down and we will be ready to go again from the first day of next season.

“I thanked the players for their efforts last weekend and today [Friday] I have left them in no doubt what I expect next season. We are shooting for the League One title and I believe we will take some stopping.

“We will learn from our mistakes. My players know where it went wrong this season. We know it was our start and it cost us our place in the Championship. That will be taken care of. There is no way we will ever start a campaign as badly as that again.

“In fact I wouldn`t want to be playing us on the first day of the season. There will be so much frustration and anger in our side; we will be very dangerous opponents.” Fergie said.

“I am not being arrogant; we want to get out of the league straight away. The fans need to be picked up.”

Regardless of what offers come in for his squad, Fergie is confident he will have an excellent group of players: “There is no doubt I will have the strongest squad I have ever had in League One if we keep most the current squad together, which I expect we will do.

“The club won’t change about how we go about things. We will get offers for players. It is not an easy League, League One, but the lads will be back for the 24th June and we have to start the league well and blow teams away. I only have one intention, to win the League.

“I expect there will be interest in players like Dwight Gayle and Lee Tomlin, but we will deal with offers as and when we get them. We did it with Aaron Mclean, Craig Mackail-Smith and Ryan Bennett as well as others, but I`ve told every player to go away and be prepared to get ready for life in League One.

“I`ve had a great chat with the chairman who has been brilliant. He was planning for next season last Sunday morning. I`ve also had a great chat with all the players.

“I saw them as a group and I saw them all individually. I told them where I expected us to go next season and that if they had any problems to air them now.

“They didn`t. It was a very positive meeting. I need a rest, but I am also raring to go again already because I want this club back in the Championship in nine months time.

“I need a break, but on the other hand, I am chomping at the bit. I am seeing the chairman next week and I don’t think there will be big changes in the summer.’ Fergie concluded.
