Still reacting after a close shave almost saw non-league AFC Hornchurch force us to a 1st round FA Cup replay, our manager admitted, probably with a wry smile on his face, that he may have got a judgement call slightly wrong.

Having left Craig Mackail-Smith on the substitutes bench he was forced to call upon his top scorer to break the deadlock.

The fact that it took until injury time for the vital goal to be scored made it one of those nail chewing afternoons that make the game so such a passionate one.

After the game, Darren Ferguson gave an inkling into what he perceived may have been a small error by remarking,

“I might have got it wrong by not playing Craig from the start – but I gave him a bit of as rest.”

A bit of a rest, some of us nearly had a cardiac arrest!
