Peterborough United legend Tommy Robson is in Papworth Hospital after suffering from a heart attack.

68 year old Robson was rushed to Papworth on Sunday after initial tests at Edith Cavell Hospital. He is due to undergo surgery to widen an artery.

The wing wizard is the holder of the most Posh appearances having played for the London Road club on 559 occasions scoring over 100 goals along the way. He had previously played for Northampton Town, Chelsea and his hometown club, Newcastle United.

Robson is still a regular at London Road. He is a host to the matchday sponsors and sometimes assists with the matchday commentary for Radio Cambridgeshire. He was last at London Road on Saturday when Posh went down 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

“I was delivering a car in London last week when my arm went numb and I suffered pain in the chest, but I have a haital hernia problem which causes acid in the stomach and that causes a similar pain.’ Robson said from his hospital bed.

“I wasn`t feeling well, but I carried on working and didn`t worry too much about it. Then on Sunday morning I went downstairs to make a cup of tea dashed back upstairs and suffered the worst pain imaginable.

“It was all kicking off inside of me. It was painful and very worrying and I called my ex-wife Helen and she took me straight to the outpatients at Edith Cavell Hospital.

“They took one look at me and rushed me to Papworth where I was told I`d suffered a heart attack.

“I`m feeling a bit better now, but they are inserting a balloon to check my arteries tonight. I`m in good hands so I`m sure everything will be okay.”

Get well soon Tommy.
