Grant Is Wanted By Grant

Former Posh manager Grant McCann, who now manages rival League One side Doncaster Rovers, is interested in signing his former player Anthony Grant.

Grant was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season and it had been expected that he would sign for last seasons surprise package Shrewsbury Town after a fee had been agreed between both clubs.

However, speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Director of Football Barry Fry has confirmed that Grant had turned down the offer from the Shrews after his former gaffer suggested he wanted to take him to Rovers: “Anthony turned down Shrewsbury after Grant McCann suggested he wanted to take him to Doncaster, but I don’t think the Doncaster board will agree to the fee we wanted.”

With Fry not hopeful that Rovers will come in with an acceptable offer for the midfielder, could that have scuppered his chances of leaving the club? We all know Posh won’t sell players on the cheap and will stick to their guns so could we still see Grant at the ABAX Stadium when the transfer window closes in a few weeks?

There will be quite a few happy Posh fans if this is the case but with the players Steve Evans has brought in, Grant will surely struggle to get much game time this season if he remains here!
