One-time Posh target Liam Hearn is no longer interesting Peterborough United.
Grimsby Town hotshot Liam Hearn had alerted Posh after hitting 29 goals in his debut season for Grimsby in 2011/12. Posh had enquired about Hearn but were knocked back after being told he wasn`t for sale.
Posh Director of Football, Barry Fry, said: “I’ve been to watch him in the past and I really liked him.
‘I did speak to John [Fenty] about him and he said that he wasn’t available at that time and that was that.”
Fry did watch Grimsby a couple of times last season but Hearn didn`t feature in either match as the striker has endured a horrendous season with injuries after rupturing his achilles.
Hearn is out of contract at the end of next season but Posh have cooled their interest completely.
Fry continued: ‘He obviously hardly ever played last year with the bad injury that he had. I watched Grimsby a couple of times last season and he didn’t play so we’ve moved on.
‘Even if he became free at the end of the season, we’re not interested.
“We’ve got two exceptional young strikers who are the absolute business. They’re going to be top, top players and we’ve got another few who everyone are interested in, so if anything, we want to get rid of a few, not add any more!’
Although Posh are no longer interested in Hearn, Fry does believe he will one day grace the football league: ‘He’s got everything you’d be looking for. There’s no doubt in my mind that Liam could cut it in the league.’
