National newspapers are reporting an illegal approach for Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson by Nottingham Forest!

As a result, Nottingham Forest could be reported to the Football League over the alleged approach. Peterborough United will not comment on media speculation that they have reported Nottingham Forest to the Football League though.

Current Forest manager Steve Cotterill could be replaced if the club are taken over by the multi-millionaire Al-Hasawi family from Kuwait.

It is believed Leeds United boss Neil Warnock is another possible candidate for the Forest job. Warnock is understood to have been considering his future at Leeds United this summer.

According to national newspapers, it is thought Peterborough have information that Gianni Paladini, the former QPR chairman, is acting on behalf of Forest!

Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony hinted at strange goings-on as he tweeted on Friday: ‘Been ‘strange day’ on footy front but I should never be shocked like I was today’.

However, he is happy that everything is ready for the start of pre-season on Monday as he tweeted: ‘I don’t comment on speculation but our Gaffer is very happy and won’t be going to NF. All good and ready for Monday and new season’.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson has issued a statement via the club website confirming his commitment to Posh: ‘We are back for pre-season training on Monday and I and the rest of my staff are looking forward to the new season.

‘Myself and the chairman have an excellent relationship and we are working hard together to bring in the players we have identified to strengthen our squad.

‘I am very happy at the football club,’ Ferguson said.

After Fergies failed venture at Preston North End, both Fergie and MacAnthony look like staying together at the club for many years to come.
