Peterborough United are rumoured to be back on the hunt of a central midfielder who has just been relegated from League One.

Posh tried to sign the player in question in January but he preferred to stay in the north west and so signed for Oldham Athletic on a two-and-a-half year deal. However, now the Latics have been relegated from League One, could Posh resurrect their interest in 22-year-old Jack Byrne? From what we’ve seen of him, he certainly fits the description of the type of midfielder Steve Evans is looking for!

Another midfielder being touted as a Posh target is Blackburn Rovers Ben Gladwin. The 25-year-old had very impressive spells when he was on loan at Swindon Town which obviously caught the eye of Rovers who snapped him up from QPR last summer. He suffered an injury in November which ruled him out until February but he has made just five substitute appearances this season playing a total of 81 minutes of football!

However, his central midfield partnership at Swindon was with a certain Michael Doughty who Posh captured last summer as well but who now finds himself surplus to requirements at the ABAX Stadium!

Both rumours came from Tweets so there could be absolutely nothing in the rumours!
