Peterborough United midfielder Danny Kearns has departed the club again on loan!

The talented midfielder spent a very productive period on loan at York City earlier in the season in an effort to regain his fitness following his recovery an injury he picked up during pre-season in a game against Aston Villa.

He was recalled by Posh after some very good performances but surprisingly, he spent the majority of the time on the Posh bench only once coming off it for a few minutes in the last League match against Barnsley.

He has now signed on loan at League Two promotion chasing Rotherham United and will remain there for the remainder of this season and it could turn into a permanent deal!

The young Irishman will join up with his new team-mates on Thursday. There will be one face he recognises in The Millers side and that is of former Posh midfielder Lee Frecklington who signed permanently for them just a week ago.

Millers manager Steve Evans is delighted with his new acquisition: “As a manager, I`m delighted that after a number of attempts I have secured the signature of young Daniel Kearns to join the Millers initially on loan until the end of the season, with a view to making it a permanent transfer in the summer.

“Back in 2011 I tried to convince the boy to sign for my previous club, but at that time he decided to sign for Peterborough United. He has developed under Darren Ferguson and the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international is a real capture for us. Sadly, I am not at liberty to reveal the League One and League Two clubs who have sought his signature in the last two weeks.

“Daniel will train with the squad tomorrow and will make his debut for the Millers at some stage on Saturday when an in-form Barnet are the visitors to New York Stadium,” Evans continued.

“Our supporters will enjoy watching this young man; his ability to take on defenders and deliver a telling pass will become obvious to all. I would like to place on record my thanks to Darren Ferguson for the very positive comments he gave about myself and the club to young Daniel.”

Is this a good move by Posh?

Kearns was in sparkling form in pre-season prior to picking up his injury and it looked, at the time, that he would be a vital ingredient in the Posh team this season with him playing on a regular occasion.

Sadly that hasn`t been the case and despite his impressive form on loan at York, he was overlooked by Fergie on his recall in favour of players such as Kane Ferdinand!!
