Lewis Going Nowhere

Posh boss Darren Ferguson has ruled out the possibility of Joe Lewis making a loan exit despite the keeper hinting to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire earlier in the week that he’d be prepared to go on loan should he not make it back in the starting line-up.

However, Fergie Jnr has since told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: ‘He’s part of the squad and it would be a waste of time.’

‘Joe’s not going to go out on loan unless some sort of Premier League club comes in for him.’

Lewis played his first full competitive game since sustaining a knee injury in last seasons Legue One Play-Off semi-final first leg when he played in a friendly match against St Albans on Monday.

On speaking to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire earlier this week about a possible loan move, the 23-year-old keeper explained ‘I’ve not really thought about that yet. It’s a possibility.

Reserve games are good but they’re not the most competitive. So it may be an option if a month or two down the line I’m not playing still.

But at the moment I’m just pleased to get my first game back.
‘.

Fergie now faces a dilemma over whether to bring Lewis back in to the starting line-up or stick with Paul Jones who has impressed at times but has also made the odd mistake which has led to vital goals being conceded.
