A number of Peterborough United players returned to London Road this week following the completion of their loan period.

Forward Nicky Ajose has returned from Scunthorpe. His three month loan spell didn`t go according to play and he failed to make their subs bench during the latter part of the loan. In total, he started 3 games with a further 5 substitute appearances but failed to find the back of the net once.

There are strong rumours that Bury want to take him back on loan where he had a very successful spell last season helping them to promotion to League One. He managed to score 13 goals from 28 games during that spell.

Left-back Scott Griffiths has returned from Chesterfield while forward Danny Mills has returned from Tamworth.

Striker David Ball is not due back from Rochdale until after their match at home against Stevenage on 14th January 2012. He has only scored four goals during his two loan spells there, picking up two yellow cards in the process.

Centre-back Kelvin Langmead returns to London Road tomorrow [Thursday 5th January], but there is a possibility that he could have his loan spell at League Two Northampton Town extended until the end of the season.

Goalkeeper Joe Day has extended his loan at Blue Square Premier Division side Alfreton Town until the end of the season. Since Day`s arrival at Alfreton, they have slowly moved off the bottom of the table and now sit five places from the bottom.

Arron Wickham has been recalled from his work-experience deal at Ryman League Division One North side Soham Town Rangers and have sent him out on a similar arrangement to Blue Square Bet North side Bishop Stortford.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been at Soham since the start of December, along with Posh team-mate Ben Seymour-Shove.

He has started all four of the Greens` games during that period with his last appearance being in the Boxing Day victory over AFC Sudbury.

Despite the constant denials that Posh would bring someone in, there is a chance that Posh could bolster their squad. Ferguson said: “There`s a possibility we might bring someone in before the end of the month, but it will be a youngster.

“I`m not a fan of signing players in January and I certainly won`t do it if I think the harmony in the squad would be affected.”

Manchester United loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe has agreed an extension to his “youth” loan until the end of February. This type of loan can be extended.
