Peterborough United have sold striker Tom Nichols to League One rivals Bristol Rovers.
Hot on the heels of us reporting that two sides had had bids rejected by Posh for striker Tom Nichols, a new bid has been received which Posh have accepted.
Bristol Rovers had already made numerous bids for Nichols, who finished top scorer for Posh last season, and their latest bid has been accepted.
One of the major factors in accepting the bid was after Nichols received some boos in the weekend defeat to QPR which was the final straw resulting in the striker asking for this move!
Posh Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that some fans did “get to him personally” but that he [Nichols] wanted it [the move to Rovers]. McAnthony did also confirm that all parties were happy with the transfer.
The transfer fee, as usual, was specified as “undisclosed” with all the formalities being completed at the Memorial Ground this morning [Monday].
Nichols won`t have long to try to inflict some pain on Posh as the sides meet each other at the Memorial Ground on the second Saturday of the season [12th August].
Posh will now be looking to bring in a replacement which could happen before the end of the week!
