Are Posh suffering from second season syndrome already?

Just two matches into the new season and two defeats on the trot! Some fans have reacted angrily to both the second defeat in a row and also the dire performance from Posh in their first home League match of the season.

Lethargic, uninterested, lack of desire, no movement, no imagination, no idea. These are just some of the words used to describe Posh`s performance against Millwall.

Many fans also took to Twitter with a few even having heated debates with Chairman Darragh MacAnthony over what is happening at Posh! A selection of comments can be found later in this report.

Back in the Posh camp and manager Darren Ferguson is not concerned about the results or the performance: “It hasn`t been a good start to the season in terms of points or the performance tonight.

“We started well, just as we wanted to, and deservedly got ourselves ahead, but the goal seemed to have the opposite effect to that which everyone expected.

“It should have put us on the front foot but we were disappointing from then on and there is no doubt Millwall deserved their win.

“They were better than us in most departments but you get these days in football and there is no point in beating ourselves up about it.”

The players were also disappointed with their performance as some of them took to Twitter:

The following is a selection of quotes from Twitter and other social media sites relating to the game:

@SiMan084
should never boo the posh, we come to support, the players know how bad that was and we’ll be back sat to see the improvements!

@AshEllarby
Tonight was the sort of game we need to be winning. Home wins against the smaller clubs are a must in this league

Vital Posh Viewpoint

Having had time to sit down and reflect on what has to be said was a very disappointing night in many respects, it is still very early in the season and we need to allow the team time to gel.

We can look at different aspects and point the finger and say why did we do this or why are we doing that but we need to have trust in what Darren is trying to do with the team. We have new players who are still learning the way Fergie wants them to play, we have other players who are on the transfer list whether it be of their own accord or not and we have crucial players out injured or who aren`t fully match fit.

We need to give the team more time. If things don`t improve, I`m sure Fergie and Darragh will decide whether one or more loan moves would be beneficial for us but we`ve also got to realise we have a financial responsibility to the club which is always going to be difficult with the lack of support from the people of Peterborough and the surrounding areas.

From a fans point of view, we do still seem to lack quality in certain areas of the pitch and despite errors being made match after match by the same person/people, Fergie continues to play them! If we`re unable to get a better quality player in, surely other existing players should be given their chance?

Hopefully the people who were rather irate after the match have calmed down a bit and realise we`re all trying to pull in the same direction (although you could argue whether one or more transfer listed players are fully committed!).

KEEP THE FAITH AND CHEER THE BOYS ON SATURDAY.

DON’T FORGET YOU CAN VOTE FOR YOUR MAN OF THE MATCH.
