Tuesday, in most people`s eyes, was a home banker!

Plymouth arrived at London Road bottom of the table an don the back of seven straight defeats. Posh, on the other hand, had won two out of the last three and looked to be on the up, but that`s where anything we took for granted ended.

Despite form favouring us, it was Plymouth Argyle who returned to the south-west with all three points and a delighted, under-pressure, Paul Sturrock that slept the easiest last night.

Having secured the on-loan signing of Danny Rose, Darren Fergusin tinkered with his side. Zakuani wasn`t considered fit enough to start and although he filled in excellently when he came on as a substitute, at the weekend, it was Charlie Lee who filled in instead of Krsytian Pearce.

Another decision made by Darren saw Jamie Day drafted in at full back with Tom Williams sitting the start out, scant reward for a first goal in years at London Road last time out.

Sadly, the 7,114 inside London Road, were to watch the game turn on its head in the space of six minutes, almost akin to what happened at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Plymouth Argyle took the lead when Mackie fired home from ten yards, on 63 minutes, and doubled their lead when Fallon neatly headed home on 69 minutes.

At 2-0 down Posh were fighting an uphill battle and even though our leading scorer, Craig Mackail-Smith reduced the arrears with a header, four minutes from time, the Posh support trudged home from London Road wit the realization running through their minds that any talk of reaching the play-offs, pre-season, was just a little misguided. Instead it looks as if this could be a real struggle just to survive.
