Scott Rendell has made his loan move to Peterborough a permanent signing, having ended the season on loan with the League Two promoted side from Cambridge.

Cambridge boss Jimmy Quinn was sad to lose the striker but always knew keeping him would be difficult and drew on the positives rather than the negatives of losing him: ‘It’s a deal that the club have done and I know roughly the figures,’ Quinn told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. ‘It’s a good deal considering we got the lad for nothing and he wasn’t on massive wages.

‘It’s a difficult one, but when bigger clubs come in that have got ambitions and the players find out about it, it becomes very hard to keep them and that was the case with Scott.

‘And, while I don’t want to be in the habit of selling my best players, it was one of those situations that he felt he couldn’t turn down.’

21-year-old Rendell scored 3 goals for Peterborough after joining on loan in February, which added to the 21 he had already scored for Cambridge.

Do you think this is a good signing, and how do you feel Rendell will go at League One level with Posh next season?
