Vital Posh looks at the form of both Peterborough United and Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the npower Championship clash at London Road.

Brighton carried their League One title winning form into the start of the Championship and were top of the League when Posh traveled to the newly opened AMEX Stadium. A goalkeeping blunder by Paul Jones helped Brighton on their way to a 2-0 win over Posh.

That match also saw former Posh hero Craig Mackail-Smith face his former employers for the first time since leaving London Road in the summer.

Peterborough United

Posh slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Hull City in their last npower Championship outing. Prior to that game, they were unbeaten in five League matches which included impressive away draws at Leicester City and Middlesbrough.

So far this season at home, Posh have won six, drawn two and lost four.

Posh have netted 27 times at home this season, conceding 20 goals on the way. Despite the flow of goals slowing, Southampton are still the only Championship team to have scored more goals at home than Posh this season.

Top scorer is skipper Grant McCann who has scored 8 goals this season. He has been out of action since early December though when he picked up a knee ligament injury against Leicester City. He could make his return in this game.

Posh are currently in 16th place with 33 points from 26 games. Nine points off the play-offs and nine points from relegation.

Posh have gone an amazing 101 League games since they last played in a goalless draw!!

Brighton and Hove Albion

The Seagulls started the season like a house on fire as their title winning form from last season continued into the start of this season. Having reached the top of the npower Championship after their 2-0 win over Posh at the end of August, they stayed in the play-off places until mid-October when they started to slip down to mid-table, passing Posh on the way. They have steadied the ship now and started going in the right direction, passing Posh again!

Brighton had a comfortable 2-0 win over Bristol City in their last Championship outing but they did have a tricky FA Cup tie during the week at Wrexham which went to extra time and penalties. Former Posh midfielder Dean Keates missed Wrexhams first penalty with Craig Mackail-Smith scoring the winning penalty for Brighton!

So far this season away from home, Brighton have won four, drawn two and lost seven.

They`ve scored just 8 goals away from home this season, conceding 16 on the way.

Top League scorer for Brighton is former Posh striker Craig Mackail-Smith with 6 goals so far this season.

Lying in 12th place with 38 points from 26 games, they are just four points from the play-off places.
