Vital Posh looks at the form of both Peterborough United and Portsmouth ahead of the npower Championship clash at London Road.

There`s very little between these two teams as Posh sit just one place and two points ahead of Pompey, although Pompey do have a game in hand.

Posh won the fixture at Fratton Park earlier this season when a late Ryan Tunnicliffe goal earned all three points for Posh.

Peterborough United

Posh slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat for the second game in a row when Brighton were the visitors to London Road last Saturday. That defeat saw Posh remain in 16th place on 33 points from 27 games?still 17 points away from Fergie`s 50 point target.

So far this season at home, Posh have won six, drawn two and lost five. Posh have netted 28 times at home this season, conceding 22 goals on the way.

Top scorer is skipper Grant McCann who has scored 8 goals this season. He has been out of action since early December though when he picked up a knee ligament injury against Leicester City but did make a substitutes appearance last weekend. He is expected to make the starting line-up for this game.

The run of League games since a goalless draw involving Posh has now reached an incredible 102 games!!

Portsmouth

Pompey have had a disappointing season so far and have already replaced Steve Cotterill as their manager with Michael Appleton.

Results haven`t really improved much since the managerial changeover and although they have a good league record at home, it is on their travels that they have fallen short of expectations having only won once away from home in the Championship this season!

Their last match on the road saw them defeated by Carling Cup finalists Cardiff 3-2 with the winning goal scored in the second minute of added time!

So far this season away from home, Portsmouth have won one, drawn four and lost eight.

They`ve scored 10 goals away from home this season, conceding 19 on the way.

Top League scorer for Pompey this season is David Norris who hails from Peterborough. He has scored 5 goals so far this season but will be missing from this game through suspension.

Pompey currently find themselves in 17th place with 31 points from 26 games.
