Manchester United`s young midfielder Davide Petrucci has extended his loan at Peterborough United until the end of the season.
The youngster originally signed on loan for a month and although that period has seen just two matches due to postponements, both Petrucci and Posh boss Darren Ferguson was keen to extend that loan until the end of the season.
Petrucci was thrust straight into the starting line-up alongside fellow United loanee Scott Wootton against a Nottingham Forest side looking to move into the play-off positions and he almost made the dream start.
With only a few minutes of the match played, Petrucci spun round as he received the ball before getting a shot off but unfortunately a defender dived in the way to block the effort which was goal-bound.
Sadly that is the best Posh fans have seen of him as he has struggled to settle into life as a first team Championship player which culminated in an early bath after being substituted early in the second half of his second match for Posh.
With glowing reports from Old Trafford and having seen what he is capable of in training, Fergie Junior was keen for Petrucci to stay longer.
Petrucci has now signed on loan for the remainder of the season but there is now added competition after George Boyds failed transfer to Nottingham Forest and the addition of midfielders Jack Payne from Gillingham and Alex Pritchard from Tottenham Hotspur.
