Peterborough United face a massive match at play-off chasing rivals Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. Can Posh put a dent in the promotion hopes of the Green Army? What do you think the score will be?
Plymouth Argyle -Vs- Peterborough United
Venue: Home Park
Date: Saturday, 7th April, 2018
Kick-off: 15:00pm
Posh have some massive away fixtures in the final weeks of the season and after facing Rotherham United on Good Friday, they now travel the other way down to Plymouth to face the Green Army.
Argyle had their match at Scunthorpe United called off on Easter Monday through a waterlogged pitch and that allowed their play-off chasing rivals to leapfrog them in the league. The Green Army and the Iron dropped down from fifth and sixth prior to the Monday matches, by the end of them, they were in 8th and 9th places respectively!
Posh were one of those sides to benefit as their win over Northampton Town moved them into fifth place but there is just one point separating Posh from Plymouth in ninth!
Unbeaten in their last three matches and just one defeat in their last eleven matches, Posh have been grinding out results at the right time but they face a very tough task to keep than run going at Home Park on Saturday.
Argyle have a very similar set of results but have suffered two defeats in their last 11 matches although they have picked up eight wins in that run compared to four wins by Posh!
The two sides previously met on the opening day of the season in a closely fought contest. Posh opened the scoring after just four minutes when a cross from Leo Da Silva Lopes took a deflection off defender Gary Sawyer before doubling their lead two minutes into the second half. Jack Marriott nicked the ball off Sonny Bradley, who fell the ground trying to win a freekick, before laying the ball on a plate for Junior Morias to make it two-nil to Posh.
Gregg Wylde did pull a goal back and while both sides created good chances to score again, both goalkeepers stood firm.
Can Posh repeat the victory or will the Green Army gain revenge and leapfrog Posh once again in the League One table?
