Posh 0 Derby 3

It just seems that fate is conspiring to continue to hammer those nails into our Championship coffin.

For the visit of Derby County, a visit that attracted a healthy crowd of 10,280 Mark Cooper chose to give Posh debuts to recent signings Gilbert, Livermore, McLeod and Reid, in a side that looked much different to that who`d dragged us back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 with Cardiff the last time we were at London Road.

Want-away striker Aaron Mclean was given a place on the bench as Posh sought to get the three points they needed to drag themselves away from the foot of the table.

But it wasn`t to be!

Fate conspired to reduce Posh to not ten but nine men in he first half. Craig Morgan was first to go after the referee, Mr Miller, showed the centre back a straight red card after an over-the-top challenge on Lee Johnson.

And then deep into first half injury time, our recent record signing, Ryan Bennett was also walking down the tunnel after a penalty area altercation with DJ Campbell.

From the resulting penalty Davies put the visitors 1-0 up.

With both centre backs missing now, Mark Cooper, just past the half hour mark, had tried to shore the defence up by introducing Charlie Lee in place of debutant Izale McLeod.

But facing Derby County, in the second half, with only nine men was always going to be an impossible task, especially when the visitors scored three minutes into the half.

Their second goal followed a great save from Joe Lewis but the keeper couldn`t hold onto the ball and it left Campbell to slot home the rebound.

Two goals down Posh were always likely to ship a third and with seventy-five minutes gone it was that man Campbell who was to net his second of the game heading home a cross from Commons.

Not a day us Posh fans would like to remember and the sands of time, on our Championship campaign, appear to be running out!
