Why is life so cruel?

Why does life kick you in the unmentionables when you`re already feeling down?

Why can`t football matches be forty minutes each half?

Last night the opportunity to gain our third victory on the trot looked there for the taking. Wins over Watford and Sheffield United had set us up nicely for the prospect of an unlikely looking great escape, only for reality to kick in during stoppage time.

Posh, having taken the lead through a scrappy goal from Charlie Lee looked to be the likelier side to win but a brilliant equaliser from the boot of Gareth Roberts pulled Doncaster level and we were left to rue the numerous saves made by the ageing keeper between the visitors posts, Neil Sullivan.

But, with seconds left our dreams of at least a share of the spoils were wrecked when was left free to stab home a chance at the far post. In that instant our hearts sunk!

After the game, Jim Gannon remarked,

“One or two of our players won`t sleep too well after missing some decent opportunities.”

A fair comment in a season that will go down in our history books as one of missed opportunities!

Before adding,

“All I can ask is the players give their best the rest of the season.”

Surely the minimum we`d expect anyway!

It`s Forest away next and I can`t see us getting much change there can you?
