Posh – A Slight Change in Style?

The Hereford win saw our confidence boosted.

After dropping points against Yeovil and Tranmere, in successive games, it was essential that we bounced back, that we kept in the promotion race and in the race for second spot.

The Hereford game saw Lee Frecklington start and Darren Ferguson implement a slightly different way of playing, possibly because our recent upsets had come because teams were getting used to our style of play.

After the game, Darren spoke about this subject remarking,

‘Winning at Hereford was a big result for us. It was a difficult game, but we deserved to win and we can take confidence from the way we played.”

‘We kept the ball really well in the first half and the players looked comfortable in the new system.”

‘It was important that we developed a new way of playing. Other teams do get used to what you like to do so to have another system is important.”

He also went on to praise the clean sheet kept by the defence, the first for sometime, commenting,

‘The clean sheet was also crucial. Goalkeeper Joe Lewis was magnificent again and he has really answered his critics in style as I expected him to.”

‘He may well turn out to be one of our most important players of the season as keeping clean sheets is a priority now.”

‘This was the first time we’ve managed one since the Walsall match last month so we have to be happy with that.’

How about two more clean sheets lads against Carlisle and Southend?
