The massive fixture against Leicester draws ever closer!

Already preparations are being made to ensure that the largest crowd this season, a capacity crowd inside London Road; are policed in a manner befitting the occasion.

As expected extra police officers have bee drafted in as a 4000 strong contingent of Leicester City supporters descend upon us.

As well as bringing forward the kick-off to 12:00, in an attempt to eliminate any alcohol related incidents, the Police have been putting into place plans to deal with the situation.

Today, the Chief Inspector, Nick Knight (I`m sure he played cricket for Warwickshire) has outlined the crowd control plans, remarking to the media,

‘Our priority is for city residents and shoppers to be able to go about their normal business, while additional fans come to Peterborough for the game.”

‘We are not anticipating any disorder, but we have an appropriate response in place if any incidents do occur.”

‘There is a fairly early kick-off, and we would encourage the away fans to leave the city once the game is over to ensure a minimal amount of disruption.’

All fair and good advice, but he then went on to outline how they may use tactics employed previously in moving the large visiting contingent, remarking,

‘If we feel there is a need, then we may decide to use a shepherding tactic to manage the crowds coming off the trains and walking to the ground.”

‘We would decide on the day if this was needed, and it would very much depend on the number of fans using the trains, and the type of threat they pose, if any.”

Here at Vital Posh we really hope that as well as Posh taking all three points the day remains trouble free!
