With Darren Ferguson starting his tenure as the new manager of Preston North End, everybody is waiting for the fixture, at London Road, on 26th January when Darren brings his mew charges south.

With Darren now firmly entombed in the managerial chair at Deepdale we intend to focus less and less on his exploits, after all our association is now history.

However, before we go, we`d like to cover a few quotes that are attributed as having come from Darren on accepting the job at Preston North End.

First of all, it seems that Darren turned to his father to discuss matters but it also appears that Darren has grandiose plans for the club, although the plans appear to be similar to those he held for Posh (at one stage).

Here`s what Darren had to say,

“Dad knows the club well and we both came to the agreement this was the right one for me.”

“There were other options but we felt this was the best place for me.”

“The challenge is the play-offs.”

“This Preston`s 10th year in the Championship”

“We have hit the bar a couple of times and the challenge is getting them to the Premier League.”

“You only have to look around this area and Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn are there.”

“Burnley also have to be a benchmark.”

“They achieved it last year and we want to follow that.”

I guess it`s always good to aim high, especially in a new job. However, and all credit to Darren who maintains his dignity when asked about his sudden Posh exit, simply remarked,

“I don`t want to go into it. I`d rather look forward than behind.”

We`re still of the opinion that it`ll come out in the wash one day!
