The return of Chris Whelpdale, from injury, seems to have taken for ever.

Suspicion sthat he`d be back for Preston and then Crystal Palace were unfounded but now it seriously looks as if progress is being made.

However, there is now some serious movement with regards to a possible return to the first team squad.

In a reserve team fixture, against Northampton Town, Whelpdale took a mere nine minutes to score, latching onto a ball from Charlie Lee and firing home.

Posh eventually ran out 3-0 winners and looked a class above Northampton.

Good to have you back Chris, hopefully you`ll be in the squad for Queens Park Rangers this Saturday!
