Posh – Barry Fry – Its a Miracle!

It`s not even 10:00 and I`m ready to leave for London Road.

I`ve had a sleepless night with a heady mixture of passion and nervousness keeping me awake. Today is the biggest game of our season and I can`t wait.

Tonight we`ll have a clearer picture of where we are, let`s pray it`s all positive and that our roller-coaster ride through the divisions is still up an upward curve.

Ahead of the clash, Barry Fry, has given some wonderful quotes in the Daily Mirror and they show just how far we`ve come in such a short space of time. They also show just how much this club means to Barry, a person with a larger than life character who we should all be thankful to.

In the article in the Daily Mirror, Fry talks about just how close our beloved Posh came to going out of existence, commenting,

‘We were very, very close to going down the pan. I had to ask the PFA to come and help us out financially for a period. “

‘I had done all sorts of things and called on everybody that I could to keep the club afloat. I kept it going for four years but, in all honesty, I couldn’t keep it going for much longer. “

‘I had sold everything that I could, took a second mortgage out on my house, took my pension early, took all my testimonial money into the club, and I put my in-laws’ deeds to their house as security with the bank.”

‘But I ran out of things to get money from. I didn’t know the full extent of the debts and to be quite honest the responsibility of paying £150,000 a month in wages to players and staff was quite horrendous, frightening.’

Frightening times indeed and a show of just what this club means to Barry. Thankfully, with Barry edging things along, salvation came in the form of Darragh MacAnthony and since he took over it`s been an upward spiral prompting Barry to remark about the new owner and his manager,

‘I have to admit I have died and gone to heaven’

‘Darren has got a great squad, but also a great team spirit.”

‘What has been achieved since the two men (Ferguson and MacAnthony) joined the club is nothing sort of miraculous.’

Hopefully, a minor miracle can take place this lunchtime and we can put Leicester City to the sword.
