Stumbling around the internet, I found a great article about one of recent signings, young Ryan Bennett.

The young centre half promises to be a sound acquisition by Posh and there are hopes that he`ll go all the way in this wonderful game of ours.

Last summer, there were constant rumours linking us with signing the player but these were refuted by Grimsby Town, an din particular Mike Newell, who wasn`t prepared to let the young starlet go.

Subsequently, Newell was sacked and not too long after Ryan came to London Road, courtesy of a loan deal that will become permanent shortly.

However, it would appear that Ryan was more keen to join Posh in the summer than when he eventually came, as some quotes we found seem to prove,

‘Mike Newell had a big influence on me staying in the summer.”

‘To be honest, I was probably keener on going then but I signed a new deal and was happy.”

‘He went and we had no manager and I think the chairman decided that he didn’t want me here and he wanted to cash in.”

‘That’s the club’s prerogative.”

‘I wasn’t really too bothered at the time about going but circumstances at Grimsby meant I was really forced to leave.”

‘I won’t go too much into it but that’s how it went and now I’m happy down there.”

‘As soon as I found out they had accepted a bid and wanted me to go, I didn’t really want to stay knowing they were trying to push it through.”

Isn`t it strange how the cogs in the world of football turn?
