A quiet week or so in the London Road life of Peterborough United ? not a bit of it.

Darragh has big plans

Incoming POSH owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed to the local media that he has already met with architects to discuss Peterborough Uniteds move away from London Road.

His vision remains that of seeing POSH in the Championship (at least) playing at a new out of town stadium packed with 25,000 fans.

He has received a lot of scoffing, both nationally and locally, but when it had been revealed that the club has benefitted to the tune of £2m already (and he hasnt even completed his take over), then you have to admit he is serious about his aim.

It would be great if everyone could unify behind him and help make that happen, because without the support of the people of this ever expanding city, it won’t come to fruition.

The Fry factor still remains strong and principled people who have said they have no plans to set foot in London Road until that man has nothing to do with the club will be biting their nails.

They don’t want to miss out on a potential promotion season, but don’t want to go back on their word, which is thoroughly understandable.

That is why the recent pictures of new signing for the club saw Darragh and Manager Keith Alexander involved and not Mr Fry.

He seems to be gently moving into the background with the might of the MacAnthony pr machine helping him do so.

McLean looks the part…

The list of strikers who have arrived at POSH looking sharp before slipping into the comfort zone isnt a short one.

Trevor Benjamin (last season), Calum Willock, going further back Howard Forington, and so on.

It seems to be a poisoned chalice being a POSH forward.

Maybe it is the shadow of Leon MacKenzie? who knows.

One thing is for certain the Adcock/Philiskirk partnership seems a lifetime ago.

Aaron McLean has made as impressive start to his London Road career having arrived on loan from Grays (a result of the transfer window). Let’s hope the nippy front man whose haircut makes him look like the third Ferdinand brother can keep it up.

Taylor thready to go

Former Cambridge manager Tommy Taylor has been revealed as the new no2 to Keith Alexander.

Alexander told BBC Cambs that he had been ‘scouting, taking training, talking to agents, watching the youth teams, sweeping the terrace (ok that one isnt true) and that he couldn’t do everything’.

Taylor leaves his post at Kings Lynn with the Linnets leading the way in the British Gas Southern League.

Ex poshie Michael Frew is among their players.

Diadora statement

After the warnings received from Luton fans over the terrible response, POSH have released a statement on their website to apologise for the delay in kit, training kit and leisure wear turning up.

There are still no concrete dates though, with the lucrative Christmas shopping period coming up.
