There is a rare sense of tranquility over London Road at the moment.

Transfers

It is all rather quiet on the transfer front. Ground owner Colin Hill hasn’t sent any more players from Peterborough to his brother Garrys non-league Weymouth squad… which is something.

There has been mumourings and rumour but nothing concrete in recent days. The only real news has been David Farrell signing for near neighbours Boston United.

Faz has said it will be hard for him to play against Peterborough after all of his service for the club, and it will be weird seeing him arrive at London Road with those aggressive fellows from Lincolnshire.

I suppose most peoples minds are drifting to the areas that Keith Alexander needs to strengthen the most.

Up front he has Crow (if he stays), Quinn (ditto) and Benjamin. In all honesty if all perform to their level then there should be no problem scoring goals.

Farrell was adaptable enough to play up front when resources were scarce so it will be interesting to see if the back up boys (Opara and the lad from Woking) from non-league can deliver the goods.

If Gain and Holden can re-create the sort of form they displayed in the middle third of last season there seems to be no need to bring in anything over than cover for the engine room.

It is out wide where POSH need players and if Alexander can get the best out of Trevor Benjamin (and that is a mahoosive if!!!), then decent crosses from out wide and decent cross field balls switching flanks will be key.

(Don’t say David Farrell, please!)

The defence is all about whether Sean St Ledger stays for me. If he goes they will need to strengthen there. Day and Newton could be successful, but then again they could be ordinary.

East of England Show

The club has been panelled by its fans often enough for missing a trick commercially, so it was nice to see them getting involved in the East of England Show over the weekend.

I dont know whose quote I am ripping off when I say that the football club needs to be integral in the community, but it is so true in this ones case.

Honesty and trust need to be earned, but if the POSH commercial arm is willing to get out there and speak to fans and businesses that they deserve massive credit.

Fixtures

It doesn’t seem possible does it?

But the fixtures are out on Thursday of this week…

Hardly seems five minutes does it!
