Peterborough United Chairman Darragh MacAnthony is happy with how things have gone so far but is finding it harder to wrap up deals as quick as he used to.

Posh have signed four players so far including a “mystery” 17-year-old who MacAnthony refused to name. He did confirm that he is very excited about the youngster describing him as a 6` 3″ left footed powerhouse. He also said: “It could be the best bit of business we`ve done as a club”.

The youngster is due to sign permanently for Posh around the 20th July, which coincidentally is the same date as a certain Jonson Clarke-Harris` 18th Birthday!

The other three players signed so far are goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik from Torquay United, defender Nat Knight-Percival from Wrexham and midfielder Danny Swanson from Dundee United.

MacAnthony is frustrated that when we were in League One and Two, we could wrap deals up in an hour, now we`re in the Championship it`s much harder to conclude deals.

MacAnthony went on to say that although it`s been fairly quiet on the transfer front, he would be happy if both George Boyd and Paul Taylor were still at the club at the end of August. However, he doesn`t believe either player will still be at the club: “Patience is a virtue and we`re not panicking at all. We have our way of doing things and we`re very happy with the players we`ve brought in.

“We`ve got some incredibly talented players that are on the transfer list and it won`t be the end of the world if they`re still with us until August.

“Do I think they [Boyd and Taylor] will be with us this time next month, no. They`re on the pre-season boat on Monday and I look forward to seeing the lads. If anything changes, they`ll be on a plane home.”

From the sounds of things, we`re going about our business as we always have done. If we go after players but we can`t agree transfer fees or terms, then we`ll move on.

Similarly, we`ll only accept bids for players if the deal is the right one for the club. Time will tell if we manage to get the deals we want for the likes of Boyd, Taylor and McCann.
