It can be a strange world!

Our back-to-back promotions could partly be attributed to our strong defence but since August that defence has been dismantled with Martin, Williams and Westwoood no longer part of the first team plans.

Last night three players who were playing n football several leagues below us featured in a back five that put n a strong performance at Portman Road.

Bennett, Griffiths and Geohaghan are slowly coming of age and Mark Cooper enthused about their performance after the draw at Ipswich, remarking,

‘The back five were outstanding. They won almost everything that went into the box and also picked up countless second balls.”

‘The two centre halves in particular were phenomenal. Craig’s attitude has been fantastic since coming back into the team while ‘big Ex’ was tremendous after taking a bit of stick for the Swansea goals.”

Let`s hope this early promise can be sustained!
