At 2-0 up we looked comfortable, but at 2-1 we looked nervy.

The sight of Lee Hughes grinning as Joe Lewis spilled that shot for him to tuck home sits uneasily with me, I have no respect for the man even if he did do his time for his crime.

Speaking after the game, Darren Ferguson seemed to agree with our sentiments about the first goal when he remarked,

‘Their goal just before half-time was crucial, but even when they equalised we had chances to win so it’s definitely two points dropped.

We most certainly did but sometimes things just are not meant to be. With MK Dons and Leicester both winning, Darren saw it as an opportunity missed, commenting,

‘It was an opportunity to keep in touch with the leaders, but we’re not far away so there’s certainly no need to panic.’

But the disappointment lingers on in his final remark when he concludes,

‘When you lead 2-0 you expect to go on and win and if we could have reached half-time without conceding I felt we would have picked up three points.”

‘They would have had to come at us then and that’s dangerous when you have as much pace as us up front.”

Like we said Darren, some things are just not meant to be!
