Following our recent 4-2 win over Crewe, a game in which we fell a goal behind and then got pegged back to 2-2 by our visitors, Darren Ferguson had a lot to say about the fixture.

One of the things he concentrated on was the spirit in the camp and in an interview given after the match to the media, he had this to say,

‘Character and determination can win you football matches and we are lucky enough to have lots of both in our dressing room.”

‘We have some strong characters in there and that helped us to get another three points. We have had some results lately that our performances didn’t deserve.”

‘We should have beaten MK Dons and we played well at Leeds. We probably wouldn’t have lost at Elland Road but for a mistake, but we tend to bounce back well from defeats and that was the case again.”

‘We did make it hard for ourselves though. I expected them to be nervous about coming here after their big defeat at the weekend, but they had the perfect start and we had the worst possible one.”

‘The early goal gave them something to hold on to so it was important we stayed patient and waited for the openings.”

‘And after the break the game opened up for us. We made George Boyd stay out wide and made sure he got plenty of possession and things eventually worked out well.”

‘I wasn’t happy with some of the defending, but we had to change things about at the back so all in all it was a very good night.’

Indeed it was Darren, especially with MK Dons slipping up at home!
