Is Darren Ferguson in danger of creating a huge problem for himself?
If as predicted, Darren goes with Aaron McLean and George Boyd as his striking duo tomorrow with Sergio Torres providing the width, it would seem logical that Craig Mackail-Smith will be the one sat on the bench again.
Speaking about the axing of Craig, Darren was very diplomatic implying the rest would do him good but also a little wary that if Boyd and McLean hit it off big-time he may well be left with his leading scorer sat watching idly by.
Ahead of the game tomorrow, Ferguson hinted,
‘It is my job to make decisions based on what I see in performances.”
‘I know my players very well and Craig has suffered a dip in form lately. I feel that is due to him being tired – mentally more than anything – and he understands the situation.”
‘Sometimes it works to give a player a little breather before bringing them back. We have a lot of important games ahead and Craig is obviously a massive part of our plans.”
‘Having said that, if Aaron and George do the business it will give me a problem.’
