After being linked with a move to numerous clubs and being reported as being a little miffed, to put it mildly, after he was refused permission to talk to Reading, Darren Ferguson has taken time out to put the record straight and point out that it was all down to a misinterpretation of a few words.

Here`s what Darren had to say to the local media,

‘I have always maintained that I’m happy here and nothing has happened since the end of last season to make me change my mind.”

‘I have a lot to thank chairman Darragh MacAnthony and director of football Barry Fry for. I had wanted to break into management for a long time when they gave me my opportunity.”

‘It’s since been an unbelievably great two seasons for everyone at the club, but with that success inevitably comes speculation.”

‘I was told over the phone by Barry Fry that Reading were interested in speaking to me and all I said was that I would have to think about it, but that’s all I heard before I went away on holiday.”

‘The club rejected Reading’s approach anyway and that’s fine by me. I have no problems with the chairman and we spent time in Spain last week planning for this season.”

‘I still have a lot to learn and I intend to learn it here. I have no idea how good this team could be, but I can’t wait to find out. That’s all that matters to me right now.’

Glad to see the record has been put straight and we can all sleep easy now!
