What has been a very good season for Peterborough ended on a sour note with a 2-0 home defeat to Darlington.

The away side were ahead early on through Jason Kennedy (3) before they lost their ‘keeper David Stockdale to injury, Przemyslaw Kazimierczak replaced him and he was made to work hard, but Posh couldn’t make the breakthrough and Darlington wrapped up the points when Michael Cummins (52) added the second.

Posh finish the season as runners-up to MK Dons with 92pts, 5pts behind the Dons but 4 ahead of Hereford, who claimed the third and final automatic promotion spot.

Promotion was the aim for Posh at the start of the season, so although this ended with a home defeat it is hard to be disappointed with the season isn’t it as League One football has now been achieved as the ambitious clubs aim to rise through the ranks begins.
