Right! We`re out of the cup, that competition is history, now it`s time to focus on what remains of our league campaign.
Indeed, it`s fair to say that what has happened in the past in league games this season; is also history.
What is important now is that we look forward and try to get as many points as possible from the games that remain, possibly enough points to secure promotion!
Or as Darren Ferguson puts it,
‘We’ve had a good first half of the season, but we’ve achieved nothing yet and now is the time to push on and get to the automatic promotion places as quickly as possible.”
‘We’ve dropped to sixth because of postponements and our FA Cup commitments, but we have games in hand and we need to make them count.”
‘We didn’t want to get knocked out of the cup, but at least we can concentrate fully on getting promoted again. We have some massive games coming up, but all we are concentrating on at the moment is picking up three points against Walsall.”
‘I am not at all concerned about playing so many games in quick succession. In fact it can be an advantage to a team in form to keep playing.”
‘Our general fitness is excellent and we will be better prepared for regular matches than most teams. We won’t be training very hard for the next few weeks and my only worry is picking up injuries during games, but we can’t plan for that.”
