It`s great to hear that youth was given a chance in the 2-0 behind closed doors victory over Rochdale on Wednesday evening.

David Oldfield has being doing some great work with the youngsters and to see the likes of Billy Crook, Sam Gaughran, Carl Piergianni and Danny Andrew all playing major parts in the victory would have brought a smile to his face.

After the game, Darren Ferguson paid tribute to both Oldfield and the youngsters he`s bringing on remarking in an interview to the media,

‘The younger lads, players like Billy Crook, Carl Piergianni, Sam Gaughran and Danny Andrew all did very well. We want to bring young players through, it is a huge part of the club.

‘David Oldfield has done a great job with these lads.”

‘We gave these lads contracts even though we are in The Championship which shows how much we think of them.”
