Latest update relating to the injury list currently affecting Peterborough United.

Posh have suffered their fair share of injuries during the pre-season, but with the first League game coming up on Saturday, what is the latest news coming out of London Road?

Striker Tyrone Barnett [pictured below] missed the last pre-season friendly against a Manchester United XI with a slight injury. This was only as a caution and is expected to take his starting place in the Posh side against local rivals Leicester City on Saturday. It will also mean he misses tonights Capital One Cup match at home against Southend as Posh look to keep one of their top strikers wrapped up for the League opener.

Fellow forward Emile Sinclair has missed the whole of the pre-season due to an injury he picked up at the end of last season. The good news is that he will be back and in contention for the weekend.

Young Irish midfielder Daniel Kearns [pictured below] picked up what looked like a nasty injury in the pre-season friendly against Aston Villa. Kearns was having an inspired pre-season and looked very lively with plenty of skill and he put in a lot of hard work closing down the opposition and tracking back to cover the defence. Fortunately the injury the injury he received against Villa wasn’t as bad as first thought and he too is in contention for the weekend.

Craig Alcock had a massive season during the last campaign as he became a fans favourite following his summer signing from Yeovil. The no-nonsense defender played in various positions last season but is expected to make the right back position his own this season. He has just recovered from an injury and returned to action last Friday when he played 45 minutes against Manchester United. He is expected to start tonights game against Southend as he looks to gain more time on the pitch prior to the League kicking off.

Left-back Tommy Rowe is not expected to return to action following his shoulder dislocation against St Neots until after the International break in September.

Forgotten forward Dave Hibbert looks to be finally winning his battle against injury. Hibbert last played for Posh in November 2010 when he suffered a nasty kneecap dislocation.

Summer signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing pulled up against Stevenage during a pre-season match against Stevenage with a hamstring injury. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger is not expected to make a comeback for another 4 weeks.
